Solstice Celebration - Silver City's 2006 Summer Solstice celebration was a great success! Everyone who attended had fun and far more people showed up than anyone imagined given that this was a first time event. Toy Town, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Penny Park all contributed, and have since followed up with various Puppet Parades that are really catching on. Keep an eye out for more to come...

Roots Skankadelic is a reggae / funk band who plays a hip, dance-able mix of originals and traditional reggae favorites. The band says its mission is to create good feelings and give people a positive outlet. For more information about the band and upcomming concerts check out the Roots Skankadelic site.
Compás is a local world music band that plays many different dance-able styles from around the world, including Brazilian Samba and MPB, Afro-Cuban, Spanish/Flamenco Rumba, Reggae, Afro-beat, and Carribbean. The band is made up of brothers Andrew and Peter Dahl-Bredine on nylon-string guitars and vocals, Michele Parlee on bass and vocals, and Jerry Boswell and Debaura James on percussion.
Andrew Dahl-Bredine - plays solo guitar and sings Bossa Nova and other soft Brazilian styles. He also performs Cuban and Latin music in Portuguese and Spanish. His music has been highly influenced by his travels to many places around the world, including Brazil, Latin America, Spain, Egypt, and India. Andrew is currently away studying as part of survival training team. - Andrew, wherever you are, we miss you and look forward to your return...
Rhythm Mystic - consists of Peter Dahl-Bredine, Michele Parlee, and Jerry Boswell. The band plays a wide variety of Funk, Soul, R&B, and Jazz, both originals and classics to keep the crowd feeling the groove.
